Winter News

Published 08:21 on 9 Feb 2023

In previous years January and February would have been very quiet around the club as members dreamed of the new season. Not so now, last year's Penguin pilot has become a fully-fledged (get it?) winter section with around 20 sailors on the water every weekend including lots of our juniors.

What else? Well, the Junior Section continues to grow in numbers, skill and enthusiasm. Some of their recent activities include travelling to training camps (in the snow!), Penguin sailing, Junior winter regatta, Friday night indoor training and generally becoming the heart and soul of the club. Well done to Nathan and Zoe at Leigh and Lowton Winter Regatta (1 st and 3rd handicap respectively).

Then there's the new radio controlled yacht group - already growing in numbers.

And finally, the ladies changing room is getting a refurb; new showers, new changing cubicles and a new colour scheme - thanks to a team of skilled volunteers and Malcolm for project managing it all!

So if you are reading this post and not already part of our very busy club, get in touch, we'd love to hear from you. There really is something for everyone at WFSC even in the winter.
